Telehealth

What is it?

Telehealth services are provided over the phone or through HIPAA-compliant video conferencing.

Does insurance cover it?

Many EAP programs will cover telehealth, and some insurance companies are beginning to provide coverage.

How do I find out if my insurance covers it?

For information on insurance coverage, it is best to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card.

Who is a good fit for telehealth?

This type of counseling service is better suited for those functioning adequately in daily life but would like to improve their functioning or have a goal to make a major lifestyle or behavioral change.

Some examples of this may include but are not limited to: changes in eating habits and nutritional intake to improve mental and emotional functioning, making a career change, parent coaching, relationship coaching, developing habits of self-care, implementing a physician-guided plan for weight loss or inflammation reduction, and general self-improvement and development.

Telehealth services are also often recommended as an adjunct to in-office therapy to allow for greater oversight and care for the client.

What are the benefits?

No traffic to and from your session. No cancellations due to weather.

Works from your office, house, car – wherever you feel comfortable and can get a phone signal or Internet connection.

If you are home with a sick kid, they can do nap time, and you can do therapy.

You can use your own favorite blanket and mug for a hot drink.
