FAQ

Where are you located?
My office is conveniently located in Potomac, MD, in the Cabin John Village Shopping Center above Starbucks. The entrance is on the side of the building across from Dunkin’ Donuts (what more could you ask for?). The address is 7825 Tuckerman Lane, Suite 209, Potomac, MD 20854.
How do I make an appointment?

You can call or text me at 301-965-1592, email me at sarah@plansforhealing.com, or visit the Contact page on this site.

Do you take insurance?

I am in-network with Cigna and CareFirstBCBS.  If you have different insurance with out-of-network benefits, you may still be able to get some coverage. The best way to make sure is to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card.

How do you see clients?
I see patients both in-person and remotely via teletherapy.
What are your hours of operation?
In-person appointments are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 am to 6 pm. Online appointments are available Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Do you see couples?
I do not provide couples therapy per se, but I do invite my clients to bring in partners or other family members for a limited number of sessions if we agree it would be helpful and appropriate.
What ages do you see?
I work primarily with adults aged 18 to 65.
What kinds of mental health conditions do you treat?
I help people struggling with life transitions and experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss, and familial or relationship problems. Some diagnoses I typically work with include PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, Adjustment Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Postpartum Depression, Childhood Emotional Neglect, and Abusive Relationships.
What kind of experience do you have?
I am a certified trauma professional and health and wellness coach. I have been a practicing clinician for over 25 years. During that time, I’ve worked in various settings, including foster care, police-based mobile crisis units, veterans’ agencies, college counseling offices, and hospital emergency rooms. I’ve been in private practice since 2012.
What can I expect when I come in for a session?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes and can be done in person or virtually.

I provide a cozy and welcoming office setting that is private and confidential.

The first few sessions usually entail a bit of fact-gathering about your history and what brings you to therapy now. Together, we’ll collaborate on setting goals and establishing a timeline that we both feel comfortable with.

From there, we’ll explore your issues and work to develop a treatment plan. Once you identify your strengths and weaknesses, we can build the necessary skills and coping strategies to make lasting positive changes.

The ultimate goal is to help you feel comfortable in your skin and move toward a life of authenticity and well-being. I do this with a counseling style that is warm, nonjudgmental, empathetic, compassionate, adventurous, and even humorous.
