Tele-health and coaching services are provided over the phone or through a HIPAA compliant video conferencing service. The length of a session varies and is often not covered by insurance, however, many EAP programs will cover tele-health and some insurance companies are beginning to provide coverage. For information on insurance coverage it is best to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card. This type of counseling service is better suited for those who are functioning adequately in daily life but would like to improve their functioning or have a goal to make a major lifestyle or behavioral change. Some examples of this may include but are not limited to: changes in eating habits and nutritional intake to improve mental and emotional functioning, making a career change, parent coaching, relationship coaching, developing habits of self-care, implementing a physician guided plan for weight loss or inflammation reduction, and general self improvement and development. Tele-health services are also often recommended as an adjunct to in-office therapy to allow for a greater level of oversight and care for the client.
